The Elite Player Programme is designed to help those competing in team tennis and entering regular tournaments of a grading which earns ranking points (Grad 5 and above).

Players already possess a good grounding in fundamentals when they enter this programme, so the focus tends to shift to developing situation specific skills and responses, and incorporates areas such as movement, strength and conditioning and video analysis.

The Elite Player Programme consists of players attending an extended group lessons per week plus additional squads, lessons and hits as well as regular competition (where possible).

The extended session facilitates learning of core, situation specific, skills and responses in a fun group session. It allows the chance for experimentation with new skills and responses in a supervised matchplay environment before using them in live matches and tournaments and it also allows for the tweaking of individual technical, tactical, movement and mental skills in a low player:coach ratio environement.

Through this programme, we aim to create players who can produce results regularly, and crucially still enjoy themselves, in a higher level competitive environment. We want them not just to have the knowledge that their skill base gives them a chance to compete against others, but that it allows them to change their gameplan to suit the situation they may find themselves in at any stage of a match. The key, as in the matchplayer programme, is not to produce players who win every match (although that would be great!) but to produce players who know they can win but can also identify the key lessons in defeat.

To provide the best possible programme for Elite Players, we also encourage players who travel to tournaments outside of our clubs to video matches for us to analyse. It is extremely useful us to see players in live competitive situations, however it is not always feasible for a coach to take a day off from on-court duties to travel with players to events. If this is something you'd like to know more about, please let us know and we'll happily discuss the tools we have available to do so, or how you can do this yourselves...
